VIP Entry

3/18/5777 18.12.2016

There is a big crowd standing around the door. And there is an even bigger one down on the street below.

And there are even more people all over, filling the whole neighborhood. There are so many thousands of people everywhere you look!

Then you go in the door.

That’s what it would be like if we would put together all the people who clamor for a personal audience with Moreinu Harav Hagaon Chaim Kanievsky shlita, in his humble home.

So how did you – out of all the people swarming through the whole city of Bnei Brak – manage to get in?

Simple: because you won. You are one of the lucky two.

You see, Rav Chaim would really like to be able to give a warm, personal reception to each and every one of Vaad Harabbanim’s donors. This is because Rav Chaim cares very deeply about poor and suffering Jews. Thus he greatly cherishes Vaad Harabbanim and the work they do. Which is why he holds Vaad Harabbanim’s donors in such enormous esteem – to the point that he wants to receive them personally in his home and enthusiastically shake their hand, one by one.

But he can’t.

Because there are so very many donors to Vaad Harabbanim. It’s just not possible to give each and every person the personal attention and honor that he really deserves.

That brings us to the idea. We wanted to give away prizes to donors, but how do you decide who should get, and who not? According to the amount donated? That’s not fair, because everyone’s pockets are not equally deep.

According to purity of kavanas halev? That would be a very good idea, but we don’t have the technology to check that factor. That idea will have to wait.

So we decided to make a lottery.

And what will we give away? Money? That’s silly – you just donated money to the poor, why should we give it right back to you? That’s not what you wanted us to do with the money.

So we’ll give you treats and candies? A pretty certificate to put on the wall? A CD with some Jewish music?

We have a much better idea: we will give two of you a visit to Rav Chaim.

That’s something you’ll never forget.

Hope you win!
