40 Days From Rosh Chodesh Elul Until Ne’ilah On Yom Kippur

In all of the five Mekomos Hakedoshim with participation of the Gedolei Hador Themselves!
Rosh Chodesh Elul––
Jews make their way to Selichos early in the morning while it’s still dark, wrapped in white tallesim.
The blast of the shofar ascends from shul, entering hearts and shaking up souls.
We remember everything that happened, everything we went through, during the course of the year. The simchas and the sad things, the mazel tovs in the family, and the terrible tragedies that happened to Jews around the world.
And we are trembling again.
Which decrees are in store for us this year? What kind of year will 5784 be?
Life itself bears a question mark.
Our health, our parnassah, our success and our children’s success… shalom bayis, shidduchim… nothing can be taken for granted.
We remember everything that happened, everything we went through, during the past year.
And we long for a better year! For sweet news, for happy days without fear, for the secure knowledge that our wellbeing is assured.
If we could, we would run to the Kosel, to Me’aras Hamachpela and to the other Mekomos Hakedoshim, and cry out to Hashem every moment of the Yemei Harachamim. We would tear open the gates of Heaven; we would do everything and anything. We are being judged and our lives are being determined for the entire year!
If we could, we would knock on the doors of all the Tzaddikei Hador, grab hold of the zechus Hatorah and take shelter in it, so that it will protect us!
We can’t do that.
But Vaad Harabbanim can.
The shluchim of Vaad Harabbanim are our shluchim. שלוחו של אדם כמותו . They will weep for us at the tombs of the Avos, they will stand every single day and daven for us at the Kosel Hamaaravi and the Kivrei Tzaddikim. Every day of the forty Yemei Harachamim. Until we are sealed for Chayim Tovim!
The Gedolei Hador will bring us into their homes where the walls are soaked with kedushah. They will daven for us from the depths of their pure hearts. They will bring our prayer requests up to the Kisei Hakavod to be answered favorably.
We need this Tefilah and this Tzedakah, to tip our scales for Chayim Tovim! We already saw how easily tranquility can turn to chaos. We saw enough examples of that during this past year…
