Kri’as Yam Suf At Amukah

8/6/5782 07.04.2022

The Tefilah in Amukah, at the kever of the Tanna R’ Yonasan ben Uzziel, is one of the most moving tefilos of Vaad Harabbanim.

It’s the night of Shevi’i Shel Pesach. It’s dark, out in the countryside, the tree shadows sway back and forth in the wind like waves, and the scent of the sand on the coast of Yam Suf mixes with the fragrance of the rich vegetation of the Galilean hills.

The emissaries of Vaad Harabbanim arrive at the tomb of the Tanna R’ Yonasan ben Uzziel, in Amukah. Their hearts, and ours, beat together with the 600,000 Israelites who cried out to be saved on the shore of Yam Suf. Together with the many, many other Jews around the world who are at this very moment whispering their own private prayers.

It’s exactly midnight. The miracle of Krias Yam Suf is set in motion for Klal Yisrael. And the personal Krias Yam Suf of the donors of Vaad Harabbanim, too.

Go Ahead!

Even the Children of Israel, who saw the Eser Makos with their own eyes, who were brought out of Egypt through the most amazing miracles, had a hard time believing they would get through this one.

The approaching Egyptian war chariots were deafeningly loud, and jumping into the dark waves of Yam Suf in order to drown together with their wives and children was not an appealing option, either. They felt dead-ended. What was it all for? Why did they come here?

Ribono Shel Olam!

Is this really the end?

We feel like this, sometimes. It just seems like we are never going to get out of this mess. We are drowning in tzaros, we are ploughed down by evil war chariots.

Ribono Shel Olam!

Is this really the end?

Just go ahead. You will get through it, like they got through it. That’s why we read their story.

The sea is splitting, and you are marching through it to the other side, with your head up, passing between walls of water. It’s happening!

The mazel tovs are streaming in!

It’s Shvi’i Shel Pesach again, and this is peak time for the segulah of zivug hagun. It’s the time to make that breakthrough and find the right shidduch, for you or your child or your sister or your friend or your dear Choshive Bochur or Taiyere Maidel whoever and wherever he or she is.

Because this is when Vaad Harabbanim goes to Amukah, to make the sea split for you. This is the time of the segulah, and it works.

And it can work for you, too.

We can’t wait to be the ones to wish you:

Mazel Tov!
