Vaad Harabbanim Welcome !

9/24/5782 25.05.2022

Hey! Welcome!

You are invited to come in! Yes, that’s right, this is the office of Vaad Harabbanim. Nice to meet you.

Just sit down, we will bring you something to drink. Coffee, tea or cold water?

The apartment that houses the activities of Vaad Harabbanim is unlike any office you know, and not just because of the tiny floor tiles and the really old windows.

Here, the truly big things take place: things that are sad and touching, painful and full of hope.

In one room people are crying, and in another they are drinking “lechayim.” At one time, Gedolei Yisrael visit here and pour out their brochos, and an hour later comes in the parent of a sick child to ask for life-saving assistance.

The offices of the Vaad comprise the breathtaking beauty of the Jewish people.

True goodness, incomparable chesed – and Ahavas Yisrael, most important of all.

You came in?

Where The Sages Meet

The rooms were swept well and the floors washed. The little floor times shined as well as they can and the Gabbaim prepared drinks and light refreshments in preparation for the exciting visit of Moreinu Harav Hagaon Boruch Mordechai Ezrachi Shlita, Rosh Yeshivas Ateres Yisrael.

The offices of Vaad Harabbanim are blessed by the visits of very many leading Torah personalities. Gedolei Yisrael know the cases of distress very well, and are intimately familiar with the life-saving activities of the Vaad, and they come in to follow the activities from up close, to support, and to bless the donors, the partners in this great tzedakah.

Harav Boruch Mordechai sat down, and the Gabbaim put down before him folders packed with forms and documentation. Pages that contain the essence of the soul of the Jewish people. A whole world of pain and suffering, a whole world of chesed and caring.

Harav Boruch Mordechai looked through it with interest and attention. He asked questions, focused on details, and was deeply touched.

“These are folders of chesed!” he declared excitedly. “There are a lot of good things in our generation. But a chiddush like that made by Vaad Harabbanim – nothing like this ever existed!”

The Gabbaim listened and were touched. No one knows as well as they how much heart goes into these activities for the sake of families receiving support. So much energy, so much devotion of days and nights!

“How can a person fulfill tens of thousands of mitzvos with one act of tzedakah?” he asked, and answered, “When one partners with Vaad Harabbanim! The donation goes to thousands of needy Jews, and with each of them, one fulfills a mitzvah on its own.”

Then Harav Boruch Mordechai shlita showered fervent blessings on the donors, offered his warm encouragement to the Gabbaim, and reluctantly got up to leave.

Tears of Joy, Tears of Sorrow

Another day dawns, full of activity. The telephones are ringing incessantly as usual, emails constantly come in and go out, application forms wait to be approved by the Rabbanim.

And twelve fresh orphans return from the levayah.

They left their mother in the cemetery, under fresh clods of dirt. They wept fiercely on her grave, shouted out Yisgadal v’Yiskadash with throats choked by tears and came back to sit shivah.

This family was impoverished even before they started paying the rising medical expenses for their sick mother. Now they are also drowning in debt and overcome with grief.

A fund must be established for them!

In one room of Vaad Harabbanim, family members and acquaintances of the deceased are gathering, and the Gabbaim of the Vaad are planning out with them a program for rehabilitation and support for the widower and the orphans.

At the same time, in a different room in the office, a father and mother are sitting with their son. Across from them sits a tense widower, his daughter next to him, and the mother a”h is davening for them in Gan Eden.

When they are admitted to the meeting room, the widower says he came here to finalize a shidduch for his daughter. The kallah-to-be has been an orphan for many years now. Vaad Harabbanim supported the family for a period of time, and now, when she is very, very close to becoming a kallah, Vaad Harabbanim is needed again.

“I don’t have the money to make the minimum financial commitment,” the widower says with a quivering voice. We are on the verge of finalizing the shidduch but we just don’t have the money to go forward with it.”

In one room is a painful gathering for 12 fresh orphans, and on the other side of the wall they are clinching a shidduch.

These rooms soak it all up. Twenty years of tzedakah are engraved on the walls of the office, and if they had a mouth, the walls would tell thousands of stories.

So much kedushah surrounds this old apartment!

So much astounding Ahavas Yisrael, touching to the point of tears!

All of Am Yisrael, from around the globe, enlists to help suffering brethren. Gedolei Yisrael warmly approve and support and supervise, and send in their personal donations specifically to Vaad Harabbanim.

Jews who need help know where to turn. They know the address where widows and orphans are rescued from distress, where the sick are healed…

It’s you – Am Yisrael! Every Jew with his own personal donation, with his own special partnership.

It is in your merit – it is yours!
